Purple Angel Ambassadors
At 2 pm on Saturday November 16th 2013 at the Palace Hotel, Paignton, Torbay, a dream will come true.
50 Purple Angel Dementia Aware Ambassadors from ALL OVER THE WORLD will be appointed. Their job (a voluntary one at that) will be to go back to their own villages, towns and cities, wherever in the world they live and help them become dementia friendly. This is a group of people who are going to Fly in, come by car / train ETC to stand together and pledge to create Dementia friendly communities all over the world.
This is a GLOBAL MOVEMENT . I can say hand on heart i have never been so proud!! From this will grow so much awareness about dementia and drive the stigma away, to be banished forever. Its a simple idea, no need to complicate things with Action plans or “Corporate strategies !! Just good honest hard working people who have all been affected by Dementia in one way or another who want to change things for the better and improve the lives of all those touched by Dementia.
The reason why it is a GLOBAL movement and not just a UK one is quite simple really. Dementia itself does not recognize Borders or Passport controls, so why should we. This is a global Epidemic and we will do our utmost now, and in the future to create a better place for those with Dementia and their loved ones / carers to live.It is also so important to remember the two words we live by
” Inclusion” and “Engagement “
If you INCLUDE and ENGAGE people with dementia things like this can happen.
With always and forever ever grateful thanks to All at Ostrich Care UK for helping this dream to come true.
Best wishes, Norrms Mc Namara (Diagnosed with Dementia 6 years ago and STILL fighting it !!!

As ever Nirms, you are amazing! I remember those first few weeks raising awareness around Torbay and now the World.
I think you should contact the International Space Station to get them to spread the word in Space!!
Love to you & Elaine x
